Well, this weekend was Taylor University's annual Parent's Weekend, and let me tell you, it was exciting! My mom and dad came down for the weekend so Saturday after we met up for lunch, we went out and let me give you a small mental image: Gary, Paula and Hannah sitting in Starbucks playing cribbage (I've taken to bringing my board and a deck of cards with me wherever I go...I'm trying to teach these hoosiers that euchre isn't the only valid card game around!) This particular game of cribbage may have been the most exciting one I've played. The game was beginning well--I thought for sure I was going to skunk dad...that is until he played a 28 POINT HAND!! yes...that's right. he had 3-fives and a ten. Then the cut card was a five also...so, long story short I lost that game. It was a bummer but I was excited to witness my dad get a 28 point hand!
Following games we went out for dinner...along with everyone who'd just been at the Ball State homecoming game. Then we came back to campus and the choirs put on a concert following which we had the joy of hearing from comedian Ken Davis--I can't remember the last time I've seen mom and dad laugh so hard!
Anyways, life here in Upland is good--I've just recovered from a cold-bug that took me out of comission for a full day and a half and am now back to keeping plenty busy with 17 credits worth of classes and homework, small group leader responsibilities, training for my new job as a peer-tutor, getting to know the girls on my floor, social events on campus, and of course making time to sleep!
So, I hope this blog post finds the rest of you well!
Love and miss you all,
Hannah
