JUST ME!!

Hi Hi,

I haven't written for a while, not because I don't think of you all, mostly because I don't have a lot to write. Things have been a little on the s l o w side for me since we got back from AZ. We are sooo busy there, and now back here, it's sort of a shock. It's hard to get involved with a lot of stuff, being here half the year. What I really want is a volunteer job like Grandpa has. He can work whenever it fits his schedule and doesn't have to sign up for a certain day each week.

I did work at the florist the week before Mother's Day and enjoyed that. I rather doubt if I will be called much this summer because like everywhere, they're cutting back on help.

Hannah, I'm thinking and praying for you this week. You're probably having finals. Can you believe your first year of college is almost history?? You certainly must have a lot of great memories, with your first semester in Ireland.

Grandpa's tennis coaching is going good. They had a rain make up invitational on Saturday. I think there were 5 schools and Chilton came in first. Well, it didn't rain on Sat. but it was about 50 with a 30 mph wind. I went over to North to watch a few matches. Burrrr!! He enjoys working with the boys, he said they are all really nice kids.

I have been going to the chiropractor twice a week since I got home, still the results of the car accident in Oct. My neck is worse since we got back. Guess my neck liked the dry heat!

Well, guess I didn't do to bad for not having anyting to say.

Hope you all have a good week.

Love and hugs,
Grandma

Michigan updates

Hello everyone!!

The girls had great birthdays, although they haven't had their "friend" parties yet due to scheduling conflicts (Rachel will have her friends over this coming Friday night-9 friends...can you say chaos?!) Nicole wants a beach party, so hers has to wait until late June for warmer weather. Nicole's big gift was a 26" 21-speed Schwinn, so now she can keep up with the rest of us, which we are all enjoying. Rachel is now an official teenager complete with her own snazzy cell phone (most of her friends had phones 2 years ago, so she thinks she's paid her dues..haha)of course this now means she can text and take pictures and video and listen to music...oh yeah, she can also talk on it. To say the least she was very excited about it. Of course, since we were changing our phone plan I also "qualified" to update my phone for all the same "discounts" and rebates that she qualified for, so I now have a new snazzy phone that does all those things too (I have the same phone # 269-598-6139, Rachel's new # is 269-547-7374).

We had a good weekend. On Sunday we were in Janesville for my cousin Nancy's son Aaron's graduation party from the UW. It was very fun seeing family. My Aunt Helen (my mom's youngest sister, now 85) was there and 3 of my siblings came too. Barbara and her daughter Lindsay (Lindsay just finished up her first year at KU) came from KS, Cathy and Russ from IA and Andy and his family from MN. So it was much fun! The girls were thrilled to be able to hang out with their cousins. We got home after 11 p.m. so it was a little tough to get going this morning.

I've got tennis this afternoon, I'm looking forward to it and being able to run off some of the extra calories from the weekend. You should see how slim and trim Dave is, I think he's at his thinnest that I've ever seen him, he's been working out pretty religiously 2-3 times a week, he looks good.

Dave did get good news that he won't be laid off during the 7 weeks that most of the plant workers are being laid off because his project for Mack Truck still needs to continue moving forward. So we are very relieved.

I'm still working 3-5 days/nights a week between Kohls and subbing, so that has remained fairly steady.

Not much else to report. Looking forward to Marv and Kitty coming for the girls' dance recital in June and then seeing all of you in Door County. Take care. Have a great week. Oh yes, I am on facebook now...are you Paula? So if anyone wants to be my "friend" send me a request:-)

Love, Donna

Hi from Paula

Hi Family,

First of all, Sue, we were so sorry to hear about Sami! It is a sad time for sure.

It is hard to believe but it is the home stretch of this school year. I talked to Hannah this morning and she only has three weeks left of her freshman year! Unbeleivable! It is a busy time in preschool and the next two weeks will be a bit crazy. This Friday I am having Muffins for Moms and then next Friday it will be Donuts for Dads. The children are putting on a little program for both. So we have been practicing and making gifts, cards and decorations for that. Yesterday we made May Baskets and we "snuck" around school to hang them on all the teachers doors. Well, let's just say, 15 four and five year olds tried to "sneek". It was fun and many teachers were thrilled with their homemade flowers and candy. When we were young my mom always did May Baskets. Even when we were grown and out of the house she would often hang baskets on our front door, ring the bell and then leave. It is a fond memory of mine. Unfortunately, I only did it with my preschoolers, I didn't hang baskets on my kids doors~~sorry guys! I have absolutely loved my job this year. It is not without challenges and often times it is exhausting but I feel blessed to be there. I am already excited for next year!!

Gary is helping with a Habitat house today. We will know by the end of June if Gary gets to keep his job. There is a lot of tension at work with everyone wondering if they are on the chopping block. I know whatever happens God will take care of us as He always has.

I had a little incentive thing going with Lydia so today Jessica, Lydia and I went to Build a Bear and she got to pick out a bear. It was the first time there for all of us. I don't know about anyone else but I had a great time! Then we went out for lunch together. It was a fun girls day.

There are finally some signs of spring around. My dafodils are beautiful, I love looking out the window and seeing them, now if only we had some leaves on the trees!!

Well, better scoot and start cleaning the house! Hope everyone is well.

Love and Hugs,
Paula
